UK Standardised European Rules of the Air (SERA)

According to UK civil aviation authority, UK SERA (UK Reg (EU) 923/2012 (as amended)) applies to every aircraft operating in UK airspace regardless of type or state of registration. As these rules do not cover all aspects of the Rules of the Air, the UK maintains supplementary rules that complement UK SERA, permit routine operations such as VFR flight at night, and grant exemptions from UK SERA’s requirements.

• Standardised European Rules of the Air (SERA) apply to aircraft bearing the nationality and registration marks of a Member State of the Union, and operating in any airspace to the extent that they do not conflict with the rules published by the country having jurisdiction over the territory overflown.
• UK Standardised European Rules of the Air (SERA) apply to all aircraft operating in UK airspace.

The term ‘member states’ refers to ICAO member states.
