Transformer Rectifier Units (TRU’s) combine both a transformer and a rectifier. Therefore, they convert Alternating Current (AC) into Direct Current (DC) and also transform a certain voltage into another voltage. First, the transformation of voltage occurs whilst the current is in its AC state, then the unit gets to work turning the alternating current (which travels backwards and forwards within the circuit), into direct current which only flows one way, and at a constant voltage.
