STARTING AND IGNITION
The start sequence is initiated by an electrical starter motor or high-pressure air-starter motor powered by bleed air. In-flight restarting uses fuel and ignition selection only as the wind-milling engine supplies the rotation of the engine.

There are three elements to achieving a successful engine start in-flight:

  1. Rotation. Provides air for combustion and also to clear the engine of fuel if the engine does not light up.
  2. Ignition.
  3. Fuel. Supplied as an atomized vapour in the flame tube by individual fuel spray nozzles.

GROUND:
Starter => Rotation => Ignition => Fuel

IN-FLIGHT:
Rotation => Ignition => Fuel
