The Flight Warning System (FWS) draws the attention of the crew to the existence of an abnormal condition by supplying indications that identify such conditions according to an internal logic system. It also has the abilities to prioritize warnings as follows:

Advisory message – crew awareness IS required, and subsequent crew action MAY be required. They may be of any color except red and preferably not amber.

Caution message – crew awareness IS required, and subsequent crew action WILL be required. They are the next highest priority alert messages after warning messages, and they are usually amber.

Warning message – immediate recognition and corrective or compensatory action by the crew IS required. They are the highest priority alert messages and always of red color on the displays. Warning messages are triggered for situations such as the V_MO/M_MO exceedance or stall warning.

Note: Safe operation lights indicate the correct and normal operation of a given system and are generally green unless otherwise approved by the authority.
