Refer to figure or CAP 696 File. An aeroplane fitted with 106 passenger seats operates a holiday charter flight within the European region. For this flight, the passengers on board are 46 males, 38 females, 12 children, 5 infants (taking the same seat with their parents) and 62 checked baggage. The Operator uses standard masses for passengers (all adults) and checked baggage and there are no cargo items in the holds. What is the Traffic Load of this flight?
Refer to figure.
Traffic Load is the total mass of passengers, baggage, cargo (or freight), including any non-revenue load (Flight crew members are not part of the Traffic Load).
According to the annex, the standard mass values for the passengers and their baggage of an aircraft which operates a holiday charter flight within the European region having more than 30 passenger seating capacity, are:
- All Adults: 76 kg
- Children: 35 kg
- Infants: (ages less than 2 years) are using the same seat as their parents then their weight is not counted.
- Baggage: 13 kg
Therefore, the Traffic Load will be: 84 Adults (46 Male Passengers + 38 Female Passengers) + 12 Children + 62 Baggage items = (84 x 76 kg) + (12 x 35 kg) + (62 x 13 kg) = 7610 kg.
