The actions to be taken in the event of an engine fire will be type specific and, given the nature of a fire, the required actions should be known by the Pilot.
In most cases, unless the helicopter manufacturer directs otherwise, in the AFM/POH of a twin-engine helicopter, the first step on discovering a fire should be to shut off the fuel supply to the engine by placing the fuel selector shutoff valve to the OFF position.
This action will prevent any further extension of the fire to the cockpit, cabin or the other engine.
