In order to find the center of gravity (CG):
1. Calculate total mass
Total mass = BEM + Front seats mass + Raer seats mass + Baggage mass + Fuel mass = 3156 lb + 320 lb + 340 lb + 80 lb + 321.5 lb = 4217.5 lb
2. Calculate total moment
- Moment = Mass x Balance Arm
Individual moments:
- BEM moment = 3156 lb x 135.33 in = 427 101.48 lb.in
- Front seats moment = 320 lb x 135.5 in = 43 360 lb.in
- Rear seats moment = 340 lb x 177 in = 60 180 lb.in
- Baggage moment = 80 lb x 248.23 in = 19 858.4 lb.in
- Fuel moment = 321.5 lb x 150.31 in = 48 324.665 lb.in
Total moment = 427 101.48 lb.in + 43 360 lb.in + 60 180 lb.in + 19 858.4 lb.in + 48 324.665 lb.in = 598 824.545 lb.in
3. Calculate the CG
- CG = Total Moment / Total Mass
CG = 598 824.545 lb.in / 4217.5 lb = 142 in
