What do you write in items 13 and 18 of the Flight Plan if you are departing from an aerodrome outside ICAO?
Refer to figure.
When departing from a non-ICAO aerodrome, write ZZZZ in Item 13 (Departure Aerodrome) of the flight plan and then specify the aerodrome's name and location in Item 18, preceded by DEP/, such as "DEP/My Non-ICAO Field [Lat/Long]".
This provides the necessary detail for air traffic services (ATS) to process the flight plan, as ZZZZ is the standard indicator for unspecified or non-ICAO aerodromes.
Item 13: Departure Aerodrome
- If an ICAO location indicator is assigned: Use the four-letter indicator.
- If no ICAO indicator is assigned: Insert ZZZZ.
Item 18: Other Information
-
Specify the departure aerodrome name and location:
Follow ZZZZ in Item 13, enter DEP/ followed by the name and location of the aerodrome.
-
Include coordinates:
It is best practice to include the aerodrome's latitude and longitude coordinates for clarity.
