The takeoff run available (TORA) is the length of runway available for the takeoff ground roll. It must be a specially prepared surface that can support the weight of the aircraft and the forces during the takeoff roll. The takeoff distance available (TODA) includes the TORA, plus any available clearway. The clearway does not need to support the aircraft weight, or be specially prepared. It is an area over which the aircraft can fly while it climbs to the screen height (50 ft).

A displaced threshold is one where the landing point of the runway has been displaced forward. This will shorted the landing distance available (LDA) for a given runway length, however the area before the displaced threshold can still be used for the takeoff run. 

A stopway is an area specially prepared to support an aircraft during a rejected takeoff. It may be an engineered surface that is only to be used in an emergency, and so a stopway is not part of the TORA. When added to the TORA, we find the accelerate-stop distance available (ASDA).
