Given the following data, calculate take-off ground roll required.

Pressure altitude: 5000 ft
Weight: 2400 lbs
Remperature: +15°C
RWY dry, grass runway
10 kts headwind

  • A

    1223 ft

  • B

    1145 ft

  • C

    1310 ft

  • D

    1098 ft

Refer to figure.
Step 1: Read GND ROLL at PA 5000 ft, +15°C

Interpolate between 10°C (GND ROLL = 1340 ft) and 20°C (GND ROLL = 1440 ft).

At 15°C: (1340 + 1440) / 2 = 1390 ft.

Step 2: Apply headwind correction to GND ROLL

10 kt headwind = 2 x 10% = 20% decrease.

1390 x 0.80 = 1112 ft.

Step 3: Apply grass correction

Grass addition = 10% of corrected GND ROLL = 1112 x 0.10 = 111 ft.

Total GND ROLL with grass = 1112 + 111 = 1223 ft
