What is meant by the phrase “HOLD YOUR POSITION”?

  • A

    Take another position

  • B

    Stay where you are

  • C

Stop before reaching a certain point

  • D

"HOLD YOUR POSITION" is an instruction from Air Traffic Control (ATC) for a pilot or vehicle operator to stay exactly where they are. It means to stop immediately and not move from the current location, often used to prevent runway incursions or to manage traffic congestion on the ground.

This is different to "Hold short" which means to taxi to a specific point (like a runway) and stop, whereas "hold your position" means stop immediately right where you currently are.
