BLOOD PRESSURE 
Part of any medical examination is the measurement of blood pressure, which is expressed as two numbers, such as 120/80. The first number, the systolic pressure, represents the force exerted by the heart when it contracts to pump blood throughout the body. The second number, the diastolic pressure, reflects the constant pressure within the arteries. Blood pressure is measured in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). Blood pressure varies with age, but a healthy young adult usually has a systolic pressure around 120 mm Hg and a diastolic pressure near 80 mm Hg (120/80).
